Gears of Change Classic Car Show, 20/04/14

Sunday 20th April 2014: Ex Maidstone & District 5137 (WKO137S) attended the 'Gears Of Change Classic Car Show' at Discovery Park in Sandwich, Kent. It operated on the free bus service alongside Friend's of the East Kent AEC Bridgemaster YJG807 and Southern Counties Omnibus Collection stable mate B124BOO, a Plaxton Paramount bodied Leyland Tiger. 5137 wasn't due to commence the runs until 1330 but had to operate a relief car at 1145 due to the popularity of the service. 5137 then operated alongside YJG until mid afternoon when BOO came onto the service and heavy rain came in. The last round trip in 5137 being around 1600, by which then the show was pretty much over with.


WKO137S is seen on the return trip to the classic car show at nearby Discovery Park.

A running day on this date organised by Independent Bus Tours saw the first extensive enthusiast use of these vehicles for some years.

South East Bus Festival, Detling, 05/04/14
WKO137S, BKE848T
Ex Maidstone & District 5137 (WKO137S) attended the South East Bus Festival at the Kent County Showground near Maidstone, Kent. One of only two VRs there this year with the other also being an ex M&D vehicle - normal height 5848 (BKE848T). 5137 operated two round trips on the free internal bus service and carried full loads on both occasions.


5137 and 5848 are seen together for the first time in many years.
